According to Field Yates, the Patriots have placed RB Sony Michel and WR Demaryius Thomas on the PUP list to start training camp.
The Patriots also put OT Cole Croston, S Nate Ebner, DE Deatrich Wise and DB Ken Webster on the PUP list, per Mike Reiss.
New England also placed third-round OT Yodny Cajuste on the non-football injury list, per Reiss.
The players can be activated from the PUP list by the team at any time.
Michel has had a number of issues with his knee dating back to his time in college. He missed most of the spring practices but is reportedly making quick progress back to the field.
Michel, 24, was taken with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Patriots. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $9,626,694 contract that includes a $5,081,232 signing bonus.
The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Patriots to pick up in 2021.
In 2018, Michel appeared in 13 games for the Patriots and rushed 209 times for 931 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught seven passes for 50 yards.
Thomas, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Broncos back in 2010. He signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Patriots this past offseason.
The Broncos traded Thomas to the Texans for fourth- and seventh-round picks before the deadline in 2018. Houston released Thomas in a move that freed up $14 million of available cap space.
In 2018, Thomas appeared in 15 games for the Texans and Broncos and caught 59 passes for 677 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
