The New England Patriots have officially released DB David Jones from their injured reserve with an injury settlement.
The Patriots waived Jones on Monday with an injury designation and he reverted to their injured reserve once he passed through waivers unclaimed.
Jones, 24, wound up signing on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Richmond back in May of last year. He was, unfortunately, waived coming out of the preseason, but later signed to the Patriots’ practice squad.
New England brought Jones back on a futures contract this past February.
During his four-year college career at Richmond, Jones recorded 195 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, 20 pass defenses, two forced fumbles, two recoveries, 14 interceptions and two returned for touchdowns over the course of 14 games.
