Patriots Release Veteran WR Nate Washington

Tom Curran of CSNNE.com reports that the Patriots are releasing veteran WR Nate Washington on Wednesday.

This comes after the news that the Patriots have placed C Bryan Stork on waivers, so they’re clearly focused on getting close to the 75-man roster limit and giving these guys head starts at finding another opportunity.

Washington, 32, originally signed on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Tiffin back in 2005. He wound up playing out his rookie contract before signing a free agent deal with the Titans.

The Texans wound up signing him to a one-year contract last year. Washington caught on with Patriots this past March when he signed a one-year, $1.065 million contract.

In 2015, Washington appeared in 14 games for the Texans and recorded 47 receptions for 658 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 76 receiver out of 121 qualifying players.
