Patriots Rework DL Lawrence Guy’s Contract, Give Him $500K Incentive He Would’ve Lost

Ian Whetstone reports that the Patriots restructured DL Lawrence Guy‘s contract and added a $500,000 signing bonus for the 2018 season after he just barely missed out on earning a $500,000 incentive for playing 55 percent of the team’s snaps in 2017.

Guy finished the year with 54.8 percent, so it appears as though the Patriots decided to do right by Guy.

Guy, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the Packers back in 2011. He bounced around with a few teams including the Colts and Chargers after brief stints with the Packers before eventually catching on with the Ravens in 2014.

The Patriots signed Guy to a four-year, $13.4 million contract that included $4.9 million guaranteed back in 2017. He stands to make base salaries of $1.4 million and $1.9 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Guy appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and recorded 58 tackles, one sack and a pass defense.
