Patriots S Duron Harmon Detained For Trying To Enter Costa Rica With Marijuana

According to the Costa Rican newspaper La Nación, Patriots S Duron Harmon was arrested Friday afternoon at the Juan Santamaría airport for trying to enter Costa Rica with 58 grams of marijuana hidden inside a can of soda in a suitcase.

Harmon was reportedly detained and sent back to the United States following the incident.

The Patriots released the following statement regarding Harmon:

“We are aware of the situation involving Duron Harmon Friday night in Costa Rica. He has since returned to the U.S. and we are seeking to gain more information.  At this time, we have no further update.”

Harmon, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Patriots back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,711,100 contract with the Patriots before agreeing to a four-year, $17 million contract that included $6.5 million guaranteed last year.

In 2017, Harmon appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and recorded 23 tackles, four interceptions and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 37 safety out of 87 qualifying players.
