Patriots announced that they have signed free agent rookie WR Jeremy Johnson to a contract on Thursday.

Johnson joins a large group of receivers competing for roster spots in OTAs and training camp. Last year, he caught 112 passes for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns for SMU and set a school record by catching 10 passes or more in seven games.
Johnson reportedly tried out for the Ravens last month.
