Patriots Sign S Patrick Chung To A Three-Year, $8.2M Extension

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the New England Patriots have signed S Pat Chung to a three-year, contract extension.

  • Chung will receive $8.2 million over the course of three years to go along with $3.4 million guaranteed.
  • Albert Breer reports that Chung’s contract will pay him a total of $4.2 million in base salaries over the three years, as well as a $2.4 million signing bonus.
  • According to Breer, Chung’s deal also includes incentives and per-game roster bonuses.
  • This contract will keep him under team control through the 2017 season.

Chung, 27, was set to be an unrestricted free agent in the next few months. He’s coming off of a solid 2014 season in which he recorded 85 tackles, one interception and seven pass defenses over the course of 16 games.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 safety in the league out of 88 qualifying players.
