Patriots Sign S Ross Ventrone To Their Practice Squad

Mike Reiss of ESPN reports that the Patriots re-signed S Ross Ventrone to their practice squad on Wednesday.

  • Reiss mentions that Ventrone’s brother, Ray, is assistant special teams coach.

The Patriots will need to release or promote someone from their practice squad, as they’re currently at the 10-man limit. Here’s what the practice squad currently looks like:

  1. FB Joey Iosefa
  2. DB Brandon Dixon (Exception)
  3. OT Sean Hickey
  4. WR Austin Hill
  5. LB Eric Martin (Exception)
  6. WR Chris Harper
  7. TE Asante Cleveland
  8. OT Blaine Clausell
  9. LB Darius Fleming
  10. LB Brandon King

Ventrone, 29, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova back in 2010. He spent the good majority of his career on and off of the Patriots’ practice squad, but recently joined the Steelers.

Pittsburgh elected to release him a few weeks ago.

This season, Ventrone has appeared in five games for the Steelers and has recorded three total tackles.
