The New England Patriots placed rookie CB Jimmy Jean on waivers Wednesday, according to the NFL transactions release.
- Jean had a partially guaranteed rookie contract.
Jean, 26, wound up signing on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of UAB back in May.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Jean will free up $431,666 in cap space while creating just $5,000 in dead money.
During his two years at UAB, Jean recorded 76 tackles, one tackle for a loss, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a recovery and nine pass defenses.
