Patriots Waive TE Will Tye From IR With Settlement

The New England Patriots officially waived TE Will Tye from injured reserve with a settlement on Thursday.

Tye, 26, wound up signing on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Stony Brook back in 2015. He was unable to make the team coming out of the preseason but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.

Tye spent over two years with the Giants before he was waived at the start of last season and later claimed off of waivers by the Jets. Tye eventually ended up on the Patriots’ practice squad before returning to New England on a futures contract this past February.

Unfortunately, the Patriots waived Tye with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and he later reverted to injured reserve.

In 2017, Tye appeared in three games for the Jets and caught four passes for 38 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
