Patriots Waive WRs Chad Hansen & Riley McCarron, Place RB Jeremy Hill On IR

Field Yates reports that the Patriots waived WR Riley McCarron and WR Chad Hansen on Monday and placed RB Jeremy Hill on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

Hansen, 23, was selected with the No. 141 overall pick by the Jets in last year’s NFL draft. He is entering the second year of his four-year rookie contract worth $2,819,648, which includes a signing bonus of $419,644.

The Jets waived Hansen coming out of the preseason and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Patriots.

In 2017, Hansen appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded nine receptions for 94 yards (10.4 YPC) and no touchdowns.

Hill, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Bengals back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3,753,602 contract and made a base salary of $881,855 for the 2017 season.

The Patriots signed Hill to a one-year, $1.5 million contract that included a $150,000 signing bonus back in March.

In 2017, Hill was limited to appearing in seven games for the Bengals and rushed for 116 yards on 37 carries (3.1 YPC) to go along with four receptions for 16 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
