Patriots Work Out Five LBs Including Tim Dobbins

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots brought in five free agent linebackers for workouts on Monday including: Justin Anderson, Kaelin Burnett, Tim Dobbins, Mario Harvey, and Paul Hazel.

This comes a day after Jerod Mayo went down with what is believed to be a serious knee injury. The Patriots have already ruled Mayo out for Week 7’s game against the Jets.

Dobbins, 31, signed with the Falcons after they sustained some injuries during training camp, but he was ultimately released as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

Before that, Dobbins played for the Texans after signing a one-year contract with the team last April. However, he lasted only until October before being released.

Burnett, 24, signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada back in 2012. He spent most of the 2012 season on the Raiders’ practice squad, but was later activated in November. Last year, Burnett appeared in all 16 games for Oakland totaling 10 tackles and a forced fumble.

We’ll have to see if the Patriots end up signing any of these players in the coming days.
