Patriots & WR Danny Amendola Interested In Possible Reunion

Jeff Howe of the Athletic reports that there’s “mutual interest” between the Patriots and veteran WR Danny Amendola in a possible reunion.

According to Howe, it remains to be seen whether they’ll be able to get a deal done, but it’s a possibility worth watching in the coming days.

It’s worth mentioning that signing him to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Amendola, 33, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech back in 2008. He spent over a year in Dallas before eventually signing on with the Eagles.

Amendola played a number of seasons for the Rams before the Patriots signed him to a five-year contract back in 2013. The Dolphins signed him to a two-year, $12 million contract that included $8.25 million guaranteed last year only to release him last week.

In 2018, Amendola appeared in 15 games for the Dolphins and caught 59 passes for 575 yards receiving (9.7 YPC) to go along with one touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 65 receiver out of 117 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
