Percy Harvin, Vincent Jackson, Mike Wallace, & Brandon Marshall Could Join The Free Agent WR Market?

According to Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report, expects there to be a “glut” of veteran receivers available in free agency this year including Percy Harvin, Vincent Jackson, Mike Wallace, and Brandon Marshall.

All four of these players have come up as potential cap casualties in recent months, so it really wouldn’t be surprising to see at least a few of them test the open market.

The Jets would have to send the Seahawks their 2015 fourth-round pick instead of their sixth-round selection if Harvin is on their roster as of this March. On top of that, Harvin has a sizable salary coming his way next year, but no guarantees remaining in his contract.

Jackson was reportedly on the trading block last year, but Tampa Bay apparently didn’t find the kind of offer they were looking for. The Bucs could once again make Jackson available for trade or just elect to release him outright.

Wallace and Marshall both have big cap figures that could force their respective teams to consider taking the savings and using it to address other areas.

This year’s free agent class of receivers already looks to be much better than in recent years, even if guys like Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas are both franchised.

It’s hardly surprise, but Cole expects that the Cowboys and Broncos to tag Bryant and Thomas in the next few weeks.

Randall Cobb, Jeremy Maclin and Torrey Smith are also free agents and appear to be in line to receive decent contracts. The Packers, Eagles and Ravens would reportedly like retain these players, but doing so may require them pay top dollar in order to prevent them from fielding offers from prospective teams.

Cole adds that the Jets and Raiders are both in desperate need of help at receiver, and he wouldn’t be surprised to see them spend a decent amount of money in free agency.

You could add the Browns to that list as well given that they have plenty of cap space to work with and could really use help at receiver.
