According to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times, the Raiders may consider bringing in free agent RB Ryan Grant.
Yesterday, ESPN’s John Clayton reported that Cedric Benson was hoping to sign with the Raiders, which is still a possibility, but Grant does have a connection to new Raiders GM Reggie McKenize.
Neither has received much of any interest since the free agent market opened, so they wouldn’t require much more than a one-year deal at the league minimum. Benson has put together three straight 1,000 yard seasons, but his workload and lack of explosiveness have to be a concern for prospective teams.
Grant looked good for the Packers in the last few weeks of the season, but he too has plenty of question marks moving forward.
