Raiders Notes: Khalil Mack, Martavis Bryant, Gareon Conley

Khalil Mack

Although Raiders HC Jon Gruden said he is disappointed that DE Khalil Mack has yet to report to the team, he does not think his absence has been a distraction.

I don’t think it’s been a distraction. It’s obviously, for me, been disappointing. You want to have your best player here. This guy is really a great guy, too. I’m disappointed we don’t have him here. Going to try to get him here as soon as we can. In the time being, you’ve got to move on. You’ve got to get up and go to work. That’s one thing I’m very proud of what we’ve done here.” said Gruden, via Paul Gutierrez.

If the Raiders were to trade Mack, former Eagles and Browns executive Joe Banner believes a first-, third-, and seventh-round picks would be a “low end” offer, while two first-round picks would go on the “high end.”

I think the range is a 1, 3 and 7 on the low end to two 1s on the high end. A lot also depends on how high the 1 is. Maybe it’s a 1 and 2 if it’s fairly high, or two 1s if it’s lower,” said Banner, via Joel Corry of CBS Sports. “Maybe a team would be smart to include a 1 with a quality player. Or a 1, a middle pick and a quality player. He (Mack) is as good or better than any of the players we have seen involved in these kind of trades.”

Corry names the Packers, Bills, Colts, Jets, and Bears as potential landing spots for Mack, should he get traded.

  • Josina Anderson reports that Mack has had some contact with Raiders HC Jon Gruden at some point, but she doesn’t know exactly how long ago that was, nor in what form.

Martavis Bryant

Raiders HC Jon Gruden referred to WR Martavis Bryant as “the white tiger” given that his appearance at practice is rare.

Well, the white tiger came out today. Bryant came out. I don’t know if you get that analogy, but sometimes he comes out to play, and sometimes he doesn’t. And it’s good to see him because he’s really special, like the white tiger,” said Gruden.

Gareon Conley

Raiders second-year CB Gareon Conley (hamstring) said he is “ready to play” in Saturday’s preseason game against the Rams.

I’m expecting to play,” Conley said, via Scott Bair of NBS Sports. “It’s ultimately up to coaches, but that’s my plan. …I’m definitely looking forward to that, playing against somebody else for the first time in almost a year.”

  1. Gruden’s highering was SUCH A BAD MOVE!! His SB was Dubgy’s team not his. His last team that he beat he couldn’t get there with. So how is he Great??? I’m just ecstatic he is no longer on TV! I use to have to turn off the TV volume and turn on the radio when he was announcing.
