According to Josina Anderson of ESPN, the Raiders are expected to pick up WR Amari Cooper‘s fifth-year option.

This move is projected to cost the Raiders $13,924,000 for the 2019 season. It’s worth mentioning that the fifth-year option is only guaranteed for injury and won’t prevent the two parties from working on a long-term extension in the next year or so.

All offseason, the Raiders have made it clear that they think highly of Cooper and view him as a player to build around moving forward, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Cooper, 23, is a former No. 4 overall pick by the Raiders out of Alabama in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is entering the final year of his four-year, $22.7 million fully guaranteed rookie contract and is set to earn a base salary of  $705,000 for 2018 to go along with a $2,825,426 roster bonus.

In 2017, Cooper appeared in 14 games and recorded 48 receptions for 680 receiving yards (14.2 YPC) and seven touchdowns. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 81 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
