Raiders Pushing To Sign QB Marcus Mariota

Mike Garafolo reports that the Raiders are pushing to close out a deal with former Titans QB Marcus Mariota.

Prior reports have connected Mariota to the Raiders and it appears as though they prefer to have him serve as Derek Carr‘s backup. For what it’s worth, Raiders GM Mike Mayock previously had Mariota rated as his No. 1 quarterback back in 2015.

If they’re able to close out a deal, it would officially put an end to the Tom Brady-Raiders rumors.

Mariota, 26, is a former No. 2 overall pick of the Titans back in 2015.  He signed a four-year, $24.214 million rookie contract that’s fully guaranteed.

The Titans picked up Mariota’s fifth-year option back in April worth $20.922 million for the 2019 season. Mariota will be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career this offseason.

In 2019, Mariota appeared in seven games for the Titans and completed 59.4 percent of passes for 1,203 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 129 yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 27 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.

We have him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
