Raiders Release CB Chimdi Chekwa From I.R.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Raiders have released CB Chimdi Chekwa from the injured reserve list on Monday.

This means that Chekwa is now a free agent and able to sign on with a team of his choosing.

Chekwa, 27, is a former fourth round pick of the Raiders back in 2011. He re-signed with the Raiders back in May to a one-year contract worth $745,000 after he was not tendered a contract as a restricted free agent.

Oakland wound up placing him on injured reserve a few weeks back.

In 2014, Chekwa appeared in 10 games for the Raiders and recorded 16 tackles and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 89 total snaps last season.
