Raiders Staying In Oakland Likely Increases Odds Of Marshawn Lynch Returning

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media mentions that the news of the Raiders reaching a deal to remain in Oakland for at least the 2019 season increases the odds of Marshawn Lynch being back with the team.

According to Garafolo, Lynch would not have been interested in playing outside of the Bay Area.

Last month, Raiders HC Jon Gruden said he’s unsure if Lynch plans to continue playing in 2019, but if he does, he would “love” to have Lynch back.

“We’d love to have him back,” Gruden said, per Michael Gehlken.

Lynch recently during an appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher” that he will continue his NFL career next season if under the right circumstances.

If it works out that way then I will,” Lynch said, via ProFootballTalk.

Mike Garafolo previously reported that Gruden had told Lynch that he’s interested in re-signing him next year, assuming Lynch plans to continue his NFL career.

The Raiders placed Lynch on injured reserve in October with a groin injury.

Lynch, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Bills back in 2007. He played three seasons in Buffalo before he was traded to the Seahawks.

Lynch decided to retire after six years with the Seahawks, but later came out of retirement last year and was traded to the Raiders. He’s currently in the final year of his contract and set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2018 season.

Lynch will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2018, Lynch appeared in six games for the Raiders and rushed for 376 yards on 90 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with 15 receptions for 84 yards receiving and three total touchdowns.
