Raiders TE Mychal Rivera Reportedly On Trading Block

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Raiders TE Mychal Rivera is expected to be available for trade in the weeks leading up to this year’s NFL Draft.

According to Adam Caplan, the Raiders are “very high” on TE Clive Walford, and want to expand his role going forward, which explains why Rivera could be available for trade.

Rivera, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2013. He’s in the final year of his four-year, $2.265 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Rivera would free up $1,671,000 in available cap space while creating $26,213 in dead money.

In 2015, Rivera appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and recorded 32 receptions for 280 yards receiving and a single touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 57 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.
