Rams Hosting S Donte Whitner For A Visit

Pro Football Talk reports that the Rams are bringing in veteran free agent S Donte Whitner for a visit.

This is Whitner’s first visit with a team since he was released from the Browns last week.

Whitner, 30, was in the third year of his four-year, $28 million contract that included $13 million guaranteed with Cleveland at the time of his release. He was set to make base salaries of $6.2 million in 2016 and another $6.3 million in 2017 over the remainder of the agreement.

In 2015, Whitner appeared in 14 games and recorded 81 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, no interceptions and four pass defenses for the Browns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 24 safety out of 89 qualifying players.
