Ravens Asst. GM Eric DeCosta: “We Have To Try To Retain” DT Brandon Williams

Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta told reporters at the Senior Bowl that impending free agent DT Brandon Williams is someone they must try to re-sign in the coming months.

We have to try to retain him,” DeCosta said, via BaltimoreRavens.com. “He’s an ‘A’ player for us, he’s one of our best defensive players. He’s a rock inside. This guy can stuff the run, he can rush the quarterback, he can do everything we want him to do.”

It’s going to be very costly for the Ravens to re-sign Williams, as there should be no shortage of suitors for him during free agency.

Williams, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Ravens back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $2,675,000 rookie contract and is now in line to be one of the most sought after defensive tackles in this year’s free agent class.

In 2016, Williams appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens and recorded 51 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 39 defensive tackle out of 127 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
