Ravens Gain $5.625M Of Cap Room Be Reworking DT Brandon Williams’ Contract

Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Ravens converted $7.5 million of NT Brandon Williams’ $8.5 million 2018 base salary into a signing bonus and in turn created $5.625 million in cap space to work with.

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti mentioned a month ago that this move could be coming.

It’s also the second time in as many years that they’ve restructured Williams’ contract.

Williams, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Ravens back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $2,675,000 rookie contract before returning to Baltimore on a five-year, $52.5 million contract that included $24.5 million guaranteed last year.

Williams stands to make base salaries of $8.5 million and $9.25 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Williams appeared in all 12 games and recorded 30 tackles, no sacks, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 19 defensive tackle out of 122 qualifying players.
