Ravens Lose CB Lardarius Webb For The Season

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that Ravens CB Lardarius Webb does in fact have a torn ACL and will be done for the season.

“Webb does not look good right now,” said Ravens HC John Harbaugh following Sunday’s win, via the Baltimore Sun. “It’s a potential ACL. We’ve got a problem there. We don’t know for sure, but that’s what it looks like right now.

Jimmy Smith is expected to take over for Webb, but the Cowboys were able to take advantage of Cary Williams, so there will be plenty of pressure on their secondary to step up and perform at a high level. Corey Graham and Chykie Brown will also see increased playing time.

Webb is a much a bigger loss than Ray Lewis, even though Lewis offers better leadership and intangibles. He’s consistently shutdown opposing receivers and is one of the best all-around cornerbacks in the league. Thankfully for him, he signed a six-year contract extension back in April, or this could have had a big impact on the amount of money he would have received on the open market.
