Ravens Notes: Bryant McKinnie, Ed Reed, Dannell Ellerbe

Bryant McKinnie

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that sources have informed him that it’s unlikely that the Ravens will be able to reach an agreement with LT Bryant McKinnie before the start of free agency on March 13.

La Canfora adds that a soft market could lead to McKinnie returning for another, despite some concerns regarding his weight and overall commit to the game.

McKinnie wound up being an important player for the Ravens during their Super Bowl, but at 33 years old, it makes sense that they wouldn’t rush to lock him up when there are other key free agents to be addressed.

Ed Reed

La Canfora notes that the Ravens haven’t spoke free agent S Ed Reed regarding a contract extension.

The Ravens are reportedly interested in retaining Reed, but appear to be focused on Joe Flacco and Dannell Ellerbe for the time being.

Yesterday, we posted some info that the Patriots and Colts could be options for Reed on the open market. He’s said that he would like to return to Baltimore, but it will be interesting to see if likes of Bill Belichick or Chuck Pagano will able to convince him to leave the only team he’s ever played for.

We have Reed listed as the No. 39 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Dannell Ellerbe

Ravens LB Dannell Ellerbe mentioned that re-signing with Baltimore this offseason would be the ideal scenario.

“My heart is in Baltimore, I love Baltimore, I love the fans,” Ellerbe said, via Sports Radio Interviews.

La Canfora reports a source has informed him that the Ravens expect to hold talks with Ellerbe and adds that the Baltimore sees him as a “priority.”

We have Ellerbe listed as the No. 50 best available player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
