Ravens QB Robert Griffin III Expected To Miss 4-8 Weeks With Fractured Thumb

Adam Schefter reports that Ravens QB Robert Griffin III is expected to be out 4-8 weeks with a hairline fracture in his right thumb.

Griffin suffered the injury during Saturday’s practice after he hit his hand on a defensive player’s helmet.

The Ravens have sixth-round pick Trace McSorley as their third-string quarterback, so it’s possible they could look to bring someone in for the next month or so while RGIII is out.

Griffin, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Redskins back in 2012. He spent four years in Washington before signing a two-year, $15 million contract that includes $6.75 million guaranteed with the Browns back in 2016.

RGIII was set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2017 season when the Browns released him. He signed with Baltimore to a one-year, $1 million deal in 2018 and returned to the team back in March on another one-year contract worth $4.5 million.

In 2018, Griffin appeared in three games for the Ravens. He completed two of six passes for 21 yards in limited action, with no touchdowns or interceptions.  He did not have any rushing attempts.
