Ravens Won’t Franchise ILB C.J. Mosley, Will Test Free Agent Market

Adam Schefter reports that the Ravens have informed ILB C.J. Mosley that they will not use their franchise tag on him.

Last week, Ravens GM Eric DeCosta told reporters at the Combine that negotiations with Mosley are ongoing and he planned to meet with Mosley’s agents.

Mosley will now get the opportunity to test the free agent market, assuming he doesn’t agree to an extension with the Ravens in the next week.

It would have cost the Ravens over $15 million fully guaranteed to franchise Mosley for the 2019 season.

Mosley, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $8,788,002 rookie contract before the Ravens picked up his fifth-year option last year.

Mosley made a base salary of $8,718,000 for the 2018 season and is now in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2018, Mosley appeared in 15 games for the Ravens and recorded 105 tackles, a half sack, an interception and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 receiver out of 93 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
