Redskins Cut Ryan Grant, Sign Keiland Williams

John Keim reports that the Washington Redskins have released RB Ryan Grant and signed Keiland Williams to take his place.

Grant only received one carry, but he wasn’t exactly going to be their option if they were forced to play him because of an injury. Grant has very little explosiveness at this point in his career, which is most likely the reason that a number of teams chose to pass on him, despite the fact that they were in need up help at the position.

Keiland Williams offers the Redskins more in terms of his ability to play fullback and contribute on special teams. He’s also familiar with the Redskins’ offensive scheme, so this move makes sense on a lot of levels.
