Redskins LT Trent Williams Expected To Be Ready For Training Camp, Despite Medical Scare

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Redskins expect OT Trent Williams to be ready for training camp after a medical scare involving a growth or tumor on his head.

Rapoport mentions that Williams has had the growth removed.  Doctors were worried it was malignant, but Rapoport says Williams should be unaffected once he recovers.

Teammates had reportedly been concerned Williams could miss the entire season, but that’s no longer a concern.  However, Williams is expected to take it easy during spring workouts.

Williams missed time last season with thumb, knee and rib injuries.  He played through a torn patellar tendon during the 2017 season.

Williams, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Redskins back in 2010. He currently in the third year of his five-year, $66 million contract that includes $43.25 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $10 million and $11 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Williams started 13 games for the Redskins.  Pro Football Focus rated Williams as the No. 21 tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
