Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Redskins are hoping to sign QB Josh Johnson to a contract, despite working out some other quarterback on Tuesday.
Johnson was just recently selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football.
Johnson, 32, is a former fifth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. Since then, Johnson has played for a number of teams including the 49ers, Browns, Bengals, Chargers, Jets, Colts, Bills, Ravens and Giants before catching on with Texans last season and finishing out the year in Houston.
The Raiders signed Johnson to a contract this past March only to cut him loose a few weeks after this year’s draft.
Johnson hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season while playing for the Bengals.
