Redskins Sign OT Willie Smith, Waive OT Tovar Allen

The Washington Redskins signed OT Willie Smith to a contract on Tuesday, according to Howard Balzer.

• Washington waived OT Tovar Allen to make room for Smith.

Smith, 28, originally signed on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina back in November of 2011. He had brief stints with the Redskins and Raiders before returning to the Chargers in 2013.

Last year, Smith appeared in all 16 games for San Diego, but was limited to playing just 69, according to Pro Football Focus.
