The Saints received some bad news regarding the injury that Reggie Bush suffered during a muffed punt last night against the 49ers. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN Bush has a fractured fibula that will cost him around 4-6 weeks of recovery.
Bush talked about the injury by saying, “I hurt like hell.ย I got back up and tried to walk on it.ย It felt terrible.”
The Saints have had trouble maintaining a healthy backfield since the early preseason and losing Bush for any amount of time will have an effect on the teams running game. Pierre Thomas will be leaned on more in the coming weeks but the Saints will also look to DeShawn Wynn for some added production.
Thankfully for the Saints their next five games are against the Falcons, Panthers, Cardinals, Buccaneers and Browns. Other than Falcons, they couldn’t ask for an easier stretch of games.
