Ian Rapoport reports that an MRI revealed that 49ers CB Chris Culliver sustained a torn ACL during Thursday’s practice.
- Adam Schefter adds that there is no date set for surgery and confirms that Culliver will be out for the season.
Culliver was reportedly running down the field on a punt coverage drill when he fell to the ground and clutched his knee. He was carted off the field.
Culliver was expected to be the team’s No. cornerback this season, but this should open up some playing time for veteran CB Nnamdi Asomugha. San Francisco traded for Eric Wright before the deal was voided, so he could be someone to watch in the coming days.
We will have more as the news is available.
