According to Pro Football Talk, the 49ers are shopping DE Solomon Thomas in trade talks.
So far through two seasons, Thomas has not had the impact the 49ers expected after taking him with the No. 3 overall pick a few years ago. In 30 games for the 49ers, Thomas has only recorded four total sacks.
With most mocks having the 49ers taking Ohio State DE Nick Bosa to join DL DeForest Buckner, Thomas could be the odd man out of the defensive end group.
Thomas, 23, was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The 49ers traded down from the No. 2 pick to select Thomas, then signed him to a four-year, $28.15 million deal.
Thomas is owed base salaries of $645,000 and $735,000 over the next two years of the agreement. The 49ers will have a fifth-year option to pick up in 2020.
In 2018, Thomas appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers, recording 31 total tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack.
