Ian Rapoport reports that the 49ers areย undecided about picking up OLB Aldon Smith‘s fifth-year option at this point in time.
- Rapoport adds that the 49ersย wonโt cut Smith given that his 2014 salary is guaranteed and releasing him would only accelerate his signing bonus.

To make matters worse,ย Smith has a separate court date coming up for a previous DUI and felony weapons charges. League disciple remains an option for Smith.
The 49ers will have untilย May 3 to decide what to do with in regards to Smith’s option.
Smith, 24, appeared in 11 games last year and totaledย 34 tackles andย 8.5 sacks.
