Report: AFC Team Has Offered Eagles 2nd-Rd Pick For Nick Foles

Geoff Mosher of FanragSports, citing a source with direct knowledge of the situation, reports that an AFC team offered the Eagles a second-round pick for QB Nick Foles earlier this offseason.

Mosher doesn’t say who this team is but mentions that theย Browns, Bills, Jets and Dolphins. It’s worth mentioning that the Browns, Bills and Jets all have multiple second-round picks thisย year.

  • Peter King of TheMMQB.comย reports the Eagles have at least one respectable trade offer for Foles.ย However,ย King believes it would likely require at least a similar package to the first- and fourth-round picks the Eagles got for QB Sam Bradford a few years ago to move on from Foles.ย King admits Philadelphia is unlikely to get this kind of return for Foles.
  • Ian Rapoport of NFL Mediaย previously reported that teams around the league are expected to show trade interest in Foles this offseason and there’s a chance some teams will view him as a starter and pursue a potential deal.ย While the Eagles like their quarterback situation, Rapoport says Philadelphia will considering moving Foles for the right price.
  • Chris Mortensen reports that the Eagles have fielded more than one inquiry for Foles but not solicited offers from teams. Mortensen agrees that it would take more thanย first- and fourth-round picks they got for Bradford to move Foles.

There are a number of notable free agent quarterbacks available this year to go along with a decent group of quarterback prospects in this year’s draft, so it will be interesting to see the level of interest teams show in a potentialย  Foles’ trade.

Foles, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012.ย Philadelphia traded Foles to the Rams back in 2015 in aย deal for QB Sam Bradfordย and he later signed an extension with the Rams.

Unfortunately, Foles lasted just over a year with the Rams before he was released last summer and later signed by the Chiefs. The Eagles signed Foles to a two-year, $11 million contract that includes $7 million guaranteed this past March. He stands to make a base salary of $1 million this season and another $4 million in 2018.

In 2017, Foles appeared in seven games and completed 56.4 percent of his passes forย 537 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions.

We’ll have more regarding Foles as the news is available.
