Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that the Bills have finalized an agreement with former 49ers OC Greg Roman to be their next offensive coordinator.
- The deal should be official by Tuesday, according to Marvez.
Roman was expected to join Rex Ryan’s staff since the news broke that the former Jets head coach was taking over as the Bills coach on Sunday.
Roman found interest from the Rams, Browns, and Buccaneers regarding their offensive coordinator vacancies. The Bills also interviewed him for their head-coaching vacancy.
Ryan and Roman go back to their days with the Ravens, so they are clearly familiar with one another. It will be interesting to see if Roman is able to get more out former first-round pick E.J. Manuel than the previous coaching staff was able to.
Here’s a quick breakdown of how Roman’s offenses have finished since taking the job with San Francisco in 2011.
- 2011: No. 26 in total offense and No. 11 in points scored.
- 2012: No. 11 in total offense and No. 11 in points scored.
- 2013: No. 24 in total offense and No. 11 in points scored.
- 2014: No. 20 in total offense and No. 25 in points scored.
