Report: Browns Initially Called 49ers About Greg Roman & Jim Tomsula Before Asking About Jim Harbaugh

Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee reports that although the Browns did reach out the 49ers regarding a trade for HC Jim Harbaugh, sources have informed him that “the offer was rebuffed and the conversation never developed from there.”

According to Barrows’ source, the Browns actually called San Francisco to inquire about 49ers assistant coaches Greg Roman and Jim Tomsula, and it was shortly after that Jim Harbaugh’s name also came up.

Barrows adds that former Browns CEO Joe Banner them brought up the compensation they were willing to offer in return for Harbaugh.

49ers owner Jed York mentioned that the trade talks between the two sides didn’t get very far at all.

Not far at all,” York said, via The Sacramento Bee. “We had no interest in entering those discussions.

York also said that he doesn’t expect contract talks with Harbaugh to take place until after the NFL Draft in May, but added that he is open to speaking with Harbaugh’s representatives at any point.
