Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Buccaneers are in the process of finalizing a trade that will send LB Jonathan Casillas to the Patriots.
- Adam Schefter reports that the Patriots are sending their 2015 fifth-round pick to the Buccaneers for Casillas and their sixth-round pick.
Casillas, 27, signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin back in 2009. He spent three years with New Orleans before the Buccaneers signed him to a contract as an unrestricted free agent back in March.
He’ll make a base salary of $1.1 million for the 2014 season. So far this season, Casillas has appeared in five games and recorded nine tackles.
