Ian Rapoport reports that the Colts have reached an agreement with veteran ILB D’Qwell Jackson.
- Colts owner Jim Irsay has confirmed the deal, via his Twitter account.
- Mike Garafolo reports that Jackson receives a four-year contract worth $22 million and includes $11 million guaranteed.
- Ian Rapoport reports that Jackson turned down more money to sign with the Colts.
Since being cut loose by the Browns, Jackson had visited with the Titans, Broncos and Dolphins before meeting with the Colts last night. Reports indicated that Jackson would be choosing from these four teams, which ultimately proved to be the case.
This moves signals the end of Pat Angerer‘s time in Indianapolis, which was expected.
Jackson, 30, contributed 139 tackles, one sack, an interception and a forced fumble over the course of 16 games to the Browns’ defense last year. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 42 inside linebacker last season.
Interestingly enough, Jackson has only missed one game in his entire career.
We had him listed as the No. 51 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
