Report: Colts Trade RB Delone Carter To The Ravens

Mike Chappell reports that the Indianapolis Colts have traded RB Delone Carter to the Baltimore Ravens.

  • Chappell adds that the Colts believed Carter was no longer a fit in their offensive plans.
  • The Ravens are sending WR David Reed to Colts in return for Carter.

Carter, 26, was a former fourth-round pick of the Colts back in 2011. Previous reports indicated that Carter was in a training camp battle with Donald Brown for a single roster spot. Indianapolis actually gave Carter a few more snaps than Brown during the team’s two preseason games, but Carter was averaging a miserable 2.7 yards per carry.

Reed, 26, signed a two-year, $2.5 million contract with the Ravens back in March. He has base salaries of $630,000 in 2013 and another $730,000 in 2014. Last year, Reed appeared in five games and tallied five receptions for 66 yards. He should be able to help the Colts as a kick returner if needed.

He now joins a Ravens’ backfield that consists of Ray Rice, Bernard Pierce, and Anthony Allen.
