Report: Dolphins Extend GM Jeff Ireland’s Contract

Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have quietly extended the contract of GM Jeff Ireland following a 3-0 start to the NFL season.

Beasley adds details regarding Ireland’s new contract have yet to be made public, but he adds that Ireland will be under contract through the 2014 season.

Ireland was entering the final year of his current deal, but many expected him to lose his job after the season. Ireland went all-in during the offseason after he spent over $100 million in guarantees on free agents such as WR Mike Wallace, LB Dannell Ellerbe, CB Brent Grimes, TE Dustin Keller and WR Brian Hartline, just to name a few.

The Dolphins have gotten out to their best start in a decade, so it will be interesting to see if they’re able to make the playoffs and possibly even pull out a win.
