According to Howard Balzer, the Falcons released veteran G Brandon Fusco on Monday with a failed physical designation.
Balzer notes that Fusco started seven games for the Falcons last year before he was placed on injured reserve with a broken leg.
The Falcons used their first two picks on offensive linemen last week, so they’ve clearly bolstered their depth moving forward.
Fusco, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2011. He was entering the fourth year of his six-year, $26 million contract that included $6 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $3.87 million for the 2017 season when the Vikings released him last year.
After one year with the 49ers, Fusco signed a three-year deal with the Falcons is worth $12.75 million last year.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing will free up $2,293,750 of available cap space while creating $2.5 million in dead money.
In 2018, Fusco appeared in seven games for the Falcons.
