Giants Officially Sign QB Josh Freeman

Update:

The New York Giants officially signed QB Josh Freeman on Monday, according to the NFL transactions release.

———-

Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reports that the Giants have agreed to terms with veteran QB Josh Freeman.

  • Garafolo adds that the Giants believe Freeman got a “raw deal” from Minnesota last year.
  • ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported that the Giants are expected to complete an agreement with Freeman over “the next day or so.”

Freeman, 26, previously visited with the Bears before meeting with the Giants on Tuesday.

The Giants currently have second-year QB Ryan Nassib backing up Eli Manning, so it’s interesting to see that they are willing to add more competition at the position.

Last year, Freeman appeared in just four games and 42.9 percent of his passes for 761 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.

We had him listed as the No. 9 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.

  1. It’s good to see a young guy that didn’t shake out in his first situation get another shot. Especially a guy like Freeman, where it ended so strangely.
