Report: Giants Have Asked C David Baas & G Chris Snee To Take Pay Cuts

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that the Giants have already approached C David Baas and G Chris Snee about accepting pay cuts to be back with the team next year.

  • Florio adds that Baas has yet to say whether or not he’s willing in taking a pay reduction next season.

Snee has said publicly that he would rework his contract to be return to New York next season, so there is a chance that something could be finalized in the coming days.

Snee, 32, is entering the final year of his six-year, $41.25 million contract and is scheduled to make $6.75 million next season. His cap figure is a staggering $11.3 million, so he is an obviously candidate to restructure his contract. Releasing him would free up $6.8 million in cap space, according to OverTheCap.com.

Baas, still has two years remaining on his five-year, $27.5 million contract, which includes a base salary of $4.75 million for the 2014 season. He also carries a large cap figure of $8.225 million. The Giants stand to gain $1.775 million by releasing him, according to OverTheCap.com.
