According to oneย NFL general manager,ย the current interest in Jets CB Darrelle Revis is “one of the biggest potential trade markets for a player ever,” per Mike Freeman ofย CBS Sports.
“There’s a Revis gold rush forming,” the GM said.
Freeman reports that the Jets’ current asking price for Revis isย a first- and second-round pick, but notes that they’re unlikely to find that kind of interest given that Revis can void his deal after the 2013 season.
Freeman adds sources have informed him that theย Patriots are “highly interested” in trading for Revis, but it’s unlikely that the Jets would be willing to trade him to a division rival like New England.
Freeman also lists theย Broncos, 49ers, Bills and Seahawks, as having interest in Revis, butย multipleย leagues sources have mentioned the Packers have interest in him as well.
Revis, 27, is set to makeย $6 million for the 2013 season, which includes a $3 million roster bonus. He is under contract through 2016, but as I previouslyย mentioned,ย he can void his contract after the 2013 season, assuming that he doesn’t hold out in the coming months. Itโs worth noting that Revisโ contract includes a clause that prevents them using their franchise tag on him when he becomes an unrestricted free agent. The Jets would incur aย $9 million cap hit by trading him in the coming months.

would it be smart for the broncos to aquire revis?
The Jets reportedly want a 1st and 2nd, but the Broncos could probably get away with a 2nd and a player in return for Revis. They could really use help a CB and this would be a deal that’s reminiscent of when they acquired Champ Bailey for Clinton Portis.
Here’s the downside for any team that’s even considering a trade for Revis. Once they agree to a deal, the leverage, in terms of a contract, shifts towards Revis. His asking price is said to be $16 million annually and includes $60 million guaranteed, which is close to Mario Williams money.
This would be a great deal for the Broncos as long as the don’t go overboard with a deal.
jets should make a package of revis and sanchez. anyone who wants revis needs to take sanchez and his ridic contract.
would he be a fit for the bears?
Tillman is getting older, but they have Tim Jennings and will probably want to use their draft picks to repair their offensive line and get younger on defense. I can’t see it happening to be honest.
How about the Lions? Any interest? sure shake-up the mock draft. http://reportingthed.blogspot.com/2013/01/7-round-mock-draft-for-detroit-lions.html
