James Jones Would “Love” To Play For The Panthers

Packers free agent WR James Jones tells ESPN’s Josina Anderson that he would “love” to play for the Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton next year.

“I would love the opportunity to play for the Carolina Panthers,” Jones tells Anderson. “I would love to play with Cam (Newton).

Jones would make sense for the Panthers given that he has been a consistently productive receiver in Green Bay and could come at a reasonable price.

  • The Jets, Colts, Giants and Lions have come up as other potential options for Jones.

Jones, 29, was able to produce a staggering 14 touchdowns two years ago. In 2013,ย Jones caught 59 passes forย 817 yards and 3 touchdowns.

  • Mehta adds that a visit hasn’t been scheduled up to this point, as Eric Decker is currently meeting with the Jets.

Jones previously mentioned that he has considered playing for the Colts and Chargers, depending on how things play out with the Packers.

“I’ve thought about places that I would like to go play, whether it’s in Indy or there’s coming back home, San Diego or somewhere,”ย Jones saidย “Teams have popped up in my head. I can’t say I haven’t thought about it, but in a perfect world I’d love to go back (to Green Bay).
