Jay Culter Out “At Least Four Weeks” With Groin Tear

Update:

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports that Bears QB Jay Cutler is out “at least four weeks” with a muscle tear in his groin.

  • The Chicago Bears have since confirmed the report.

Reports from Sunday night suggested that the team was concerned about Cutler’s injury, so it’s not surprising that he would be forced to miss at least a few weeks.

Cutler left Sunday’s game against Washington after being taken down as he rolled out of the pocket. Cutler was clearly in a good deal of pain and had a hard time just walking to the locker room.

Adam Schefter and Field Yates of ESPN reported Sunday night that the Bears are re-signing QB Jordan Palmer to backup Josh McCown, who will take over as the starting quarterback with Cutler out.

Mike Silver of the NFL Network spoke with two sources who both indicated that Bears QB Jay Cutler’s groin injury “could be bad.

  • Brad Biggs reports that the Bears are awaiting an MRI before determining the severity and whether or not he’ll be forced to miss some time.

Granted, Silver’s report doesn’t offer a lot of specifics regarding Culer’s injury or a potential timetable for his return. It does, however, suggest that Chicago is concerned about the situation.
