Report: Patriots QB Tom Brady Restructures Contract

Citing sources, Adam Schefter is reporting that Patriots QB Tom Brady restructured his contract Monday, freeing up $24 million for the team to spend this winter.

According to Schefter, the language was changed from “skill” guarantee to an “injury” guarantee, meaning that Brady will only receive that portion of guaranteed money in the event of an injury.

  • Schefter adds that Brady could conceivably now be released without the team owing him any further money.

Clearly, Brady feels comfortable enough with the organization to make this move.

This is very significant move for New England.  The team has a number of quality players set to hit free agency this offseason.  Among them are S Devin McCourty, CB Darrelle Revis and OT Nate Solder.

We have McCourty at No.6 and Revis at No.7 in our 2015 Top 25 NFL Free Agents List.
